Recent PubMed Changes
At the beginning of February, PubMed's creators, NLM/NCBI, made several changes to PubMed:
- A New Look - The Features bar (Limits, Preview/Index, History, Clipboard, and Details) is now in a file tab format. The results display will also be in the file tab format with two "default" tabs for results limited to English language or limited to Humans. Using the Tools icon (a crossed hammer and wrench) located to the right of the default filter tabs, you can select other filters to use.
- Full Journal Name Option – to help users more easily identify the journal title in their PubMed results, a mouseover of the journal abbreviation will display the full journal name in Summary, abstract and Citation displays for most Web browsers
- My NCBI replaces Cubby – new features include the ability to set up automatic emailing of search updates and customize filters for searching. If you previously had an account on Cubby, it was moved to My NCBI
- PubChem: An Entrez database of small molecules links small organic molecules to bioactivity assays, PubMed abstracts and protein sequences and structures.
