Looking for an interesting diversion? The HSL has just installed their latest display on the third floor as you enter the library. Charles Darwin: His Voyage of Discovery is the theme.
Darwin's birthday is Sunday, February 12th. Every year Darwin Day is celebrated throughout the world with various displays and programs. The display at the HSL consists of books from both the Natural Sciences Library and the UW Special Collections published by Darwin. Interesting realia from the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture and a caricature of Darwin from an 1871 issue of Vanity, courtesy of Dr. John Edwards, make up the rest of the display case. A poster of the Beagle's voyage and a handout, Men of the Day, which accompanied the 1871 print, round out the display.
