The KK Sherwood Library, a branch of the Health Sciences Library, is evolving to meet the changing needs of the Harborview community.
Since most research materials are now available online, the traditional need for the library to house printed materials has decreased. With the backing of the Medical Executive Board, the library will focus instead on its role as a support center for Harborview's clinical, teaching and research missions.
As part of this evolution, the library will have a new long-term home with the Global Health Department when the Ninth and Jefferson Building opens. In the meantime, it will continue to offer librarian services while reducing the size of its collections. A renovation project is also planned to convert much of its current space into offices for global health researchers.
During the interim period, the following changes are in effect.
. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday - Friday.
. Librarian services will be available by phone or e-mail.
. Book pickup will be outside the library in a secured area.
. The upper landing will have one ORCA and one library terminal for staff use.
