Accessing UW Gallagher Law Library Materials During Security Alert

Due to a security alert, William H. Gates Hall & the UW Gallagher Law Library are currently open only to members of the UW School of Law community and other UW students attending scheduled classes in Wm. H. Gates Hall. We do not know how long this limited access policy will last.

The Gallagher Law Library is committed to providing creative methods of access to our materials during this time. The purpose of this notice is to alert UW Librarians of options available to UW students. Please share this information with your colleagues and students.

  1. If you, or any UW students, have questions about how to physically get a copy of our materials (including microfiche), please contact us in the Reference Office – lawrefst@u.washington.edu OR 206-543-6794. We will work with our Circulation staff to use Summit as the vehicle for delivery. Please do not hesitate to contact us and encourage students to contact us as well.
  2. Some of the materials available in print (including law review articles, federal and state cases and statutes) are also available online via databases listed on the UW Libraries LAW subject page. We can help patrons search within these databases.
  3. For members of the public who cannot access our materials, we have two guides:
    1. Internet Legal Resources – a directory of federal and Washington state legal materials on the Web. This is available under the “Free Law” tab on the Gallagher Law Library homepage.
    2. Law Libraries and Other Legal Research Options. This Q & A document lists law libraries in the Seattle area and the resources available to the public. It is linked from the Gallagher Law Library homepage.

We apologize for the inconvenience to our users. Thank you for your patience. We look forward to being able to welcome members of the entire UW community and the general public back into Gallagher Law Library in the future. Announcements of any changes in the security restrictions will be posted to the Library homepage.

Please contact us with any questions (lawrefst@u.washington.edu).
