HSL now has a weekly New Books list. The previous past five weeks are also available. A link to the list resides in several locations on HealthLinks - just type new books in a HealthLinks search box to quickly get to the list.
HSL is pleased to announce the availability on HealthLinks of the Global Health Database (Ovid interface, 1 concurrent user). This database covers the issues of international public health by indexing over 3500 serials, books, book chapters, conference proceedings and patents. It uses the CAB Thesaurus for subject terms and British spelling in its abstracts.
Global Health is split into two files (1973-present and 1912-1972). To search them at the same time, once connected to one file, click on "Change Databases," Select "More than One Database," and put checks in the boxes next to each of the files. HSL is working on a jump start to both files. For more information, check with your libraries liaison or connect to the database field guide .
The International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) has released a May 2005 update on clinical trials registration, in which they state that "they will consider a trial for publication only if it has been registered before the enrollment of the first patient." Read the editorial .
Looking to locate clinical trials? Check out ClinicalTrials.gov or CenterWatch Clinical Trials Listing Service or NCI's Cancer Trials .
Produced by NLM for NIH, ClinicalTrials.gov provides regularly updated information about federally and privately supported clinical research in human volunteers. ClinicalTrials.gov gives you information about a trial's purpose, who may participate, locations, and phone numbers for more details. The National Cancer Institute database focuses on cancer therapy trials and CenterWatch lists industry-sponsored trials in a variety of fields.
NLM will release the latest version of Loansome Doc, its document delivery ordering system used in conjunction with PubMed, on June 5, 2005.
