On Monday, 7 August 2006, the Libraries Catalog will be down 24 hours for a scheduled upgrade.
Thank you for your patience during this system upgrade. We anticipate a few more short outages during the summer as the work is completed.
On Monday, 31 July 2006, HSL implemented a new copy card system allowing you to purchase a card that can be reloaded (or re-valued). Cards are purchased for $1 from the vending machine and then can have value added up to $25 on the card. (Individuals may still purchase cards by UW budget number, check, or credit card at the HSL Cashier's office.)
Prices remain the same ($0.15/page for photocopies and $0.10/page for b&w laser printing). All but one copier uses the card exclusively. Copico Northwest cards will no longer work in HSL machines. Those with the old cards will want to stop by the HSL Cashier's office (Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4:50 pm) to transfer their balance to a new card. Questions? Ask Us!
The Health Sciences Library's entrance is a door (T-334) on the 3rd floor of the Health Sciences Building. The door is located at the east end of the building off the inner Nursing Courtyard.
Evenings, weekends, and holidays, this is the only unlocked entrance to the building as other entrances and internal corridors are locked after-hours. To move between these corridors or enter through one of the other building entrances, you must carry a photo ID card and access card. Your health sciences department can request an access card for you; there may be a fee. All others must proceed to the T-wing courtyard entrance from NE Pacific St.
For more information about access cards and building security, see the Building Management web site.
After hours, if you do not have an access card, HSL suggests you park in the C-10 parking lot by the Forest Resources building. Walk to the Burke-Gilman Trail and follow it east (left) to the crosswalk on NE Pacific St by the Metro bus stop. After crossing the street, T-334 is up the stairs and to the west (right). Do not use the overpass to the 4th floor of the Health Sciences Building because it will be locked. Those parking in S-1 (behind the Health Sciences building) must walk around the building to approach the courtyard.
