Finding the HSL Library

The Library's entrance is a door (T-334) on the 3rd floor of the Health Sciences Building. The door is located at the east end of the building off the T-wing courtyard and is marked by signs.

On evenings, weekends, and holidays, this is the only unlocked entrance to the building. To move between internal corridors or enter through one of the other building entrances, you must carry photo ID and a building access card. Your health sciences department can request an access card for you; there may be a fee. All others must proceed to the T-wing courtyard entrance from NE Pacific St.

After hours, if you do not have an access card, HSL suggests you park in the C-10 parking lot behind Anderson & Bloedel Halls. Walk to the Burke-Gilman Trail and follow it east (left) to the crosswalk on NE Pacific St by the bus shelter. After crossing the street, T-334 is up the stairs and to the west (right). Do not use the overpass to the 4th floor of the Health Sciences Building because it will be locked. Alternatively, you can park in E-11 or E-12 (by Husky stadium) and walk west on NE Pacific St to reach the stairs to the courtyard. Those parking in S-1 (behind the Health Sciences building) who do not have an access card must walk around the building and then east on NE Pacific St to approach the courtyard.

Parking can be scarce and traffic heavy on football days. Consult the schedule so you know what to expect. You may wish to use public transportation.

PubMed Library Buttons Changing

The PubMed "UW In the Library" button is being replaced by a new "Check for UW Holdings" button just like the one you currently see in other dataases, such as CINAHL. The new button will allow you to check for print holdings or alternate online holdings and will link to the HSL Document Services Article Request page. In this way, the details from PubMed can be automatically pasted into the request form.

The old button will disappear for a week or so before the new button arrives. During that time, if there is no UW Article Online button (which will remain) you will need to open another browser window and check the UW Libraries Catalog for holdings before requesting the article.
